East Sikkim
East Sikkim is all about monasteries, view points, gardens and government buildings. Places of interest here include:
• Gangtok: The capital city is a quaint mix of the past and the future. It is the hub of modern administrative activity and yet has retained its traditional flavor.
• Tsuklakhang: This is the Royal Chapel and is the principal place of Buddhist worship.
• Nathula Pass: This is the famed erstwhile silk trading route between India and Tibet and is at an altitude of 4392m. Visit it on a clear day, and you will certainly catch a glimpse of the Great Wall of China from there.
West Sikkim
This is the gateway to the famous Dzongri-Goechala trekking route. Pelling is a small but an important town here known for breath-taking views of the Eastern Himalayas. Yuksom, the former capital of Sikkim, and the starting point of trekking route to Dzongri, is also here.
Singshore Bridge
Get beautiful landscape shots for your travel log from the second highest suspension bridge in Asia.
Ravangla
This quiet village serves as the transit point to various destinations in South and West of Sikkim, as well as to treks to Menam Hill and Borong.
Shar Chok Bephu
We suggest you certainly trek down to the sacred cave “SHAR CHOK BEPHU”, one of the four holiest caves in Sikkim from here. Besides this, this hamlet is also known for its resident monastery. According to traditions, the Ninth Karmapa, an incarnation of Lord Buddha, showered his blessings by throwing a handful of paddy where today stands the monastery.
